NEW FLAT

I'm back, and I'm a bit nervous to actually post this one, so go easy on me! Ok, so a few things have happened in my life over the past few months and unfortunately it's not all been good news...so I thought I'd take a bit of time off to collect my thoughts and make a bit of time for myself.

1. Tom and I broke up after 3 years.
2. And because we lived together, I've moved house (or should I say studio?).

I don't want to say too much about it because it's a very personal subject and I'm trying to deal with it in my own way. But ultimately, we've decided to part ways as friends. I found a nice (tiny) studio flat in a lovely part of Central London that I've since moved into and put my own personal touch on. I'm hoping that some good things can come out of this new and unexpected turn of events.

Right, ok... So I was originally planning on doing a blog post about my flat makeover, but as it turns out, I'm shit at remembering to take progression pictures! I took about 4 pictures during the painting stage and then completely spaced out for the rest of the move until it was complete.
I managed to dig out some of the pictures that were advertised on the site to give you an idea of how it looked before I moved in (huge apologies for the shit quality - I didn't take them!)

(Side Note: Yes, I know my flat is absolutely tiny and I could have got a bigger place for the ridiculous amount that I pay. But I was extremely pushed for time due to the breakup and I'm in an area that I really like with family, friends, and work close by. I've never lived alone before so it's the first place I've actually been able to call mine and I honestly don't need much when it's just little old me. Plus, it's growing on me more and more so shhhhhhh!)

BEFORE

As you can see (or not, the pictures ARE terrible), I didn't have a lot of space to work with and the furniture that was in the room didn't give me the "homely" feeling that I wanted. So, I called my agent and asked to have it removed and also if I could paint the room white. I felt like painting it white would make it seem a bit more airy and spacious. After getting a thumbs up on both accounts, I figured out what I wanted and how I wanted it and got to work! My mum and Sam helped me to paint it after work one evening before I moved all of my crap in (I owe them a big shout out for helping me move - I genuinely couldn't have done it without them. So, THANK YOU!!).

AFTER

I picked up the majority of my furniture from Ikea and then sourced other bits and bobs from random places along the way. I've had to try to utilise the space as best I can and it has truly proved to be a challenge!  After a few days of building furniture, emptying boxes, and tidying things away, this is the finished result....
I have been living here for about 2 months now and I will probably continue to work on it whilst I live in it, adding small touches here and there. But for now, I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out.
Let me know what you think, or if you like the look of anything then I can try and find a link for you!
